Reminders ／ 忘れずに
- Unit 2 is the "use it" unit. There is no time to teach classroom English any more —
use it while you teach
- Declare English Only Time.
English Only Time. Are you ready? … That's the end of English Only Time.
- If a student goes silent, that is where Japanese comes back. Give them the sentence to escape with:
I forgot my homework. I'm sorry. / How do you say this in English?
- TOE depends on home reading. If a student cannot produce it, ask first:
"Has this student read it aloud at home?" — not "Should I explain more?"
- Give the homework in English at the end. This is the easiest place to slip back into Japanese
"Did I plan this lesson before I walked in?"
